Revitalizing Franklin Street

We are thrilled to share with you our latest project: the Franklin Street Warehouse Renovation. This project is more than just a building renovation; it's about celebrating local food, revitalizing a community, and creating a place that fosters connection, culture, and sustainability.

The Franklin Street Warehouse is a gem of a building, and we are currently working on renovating it, with a keen focus on restoring some of its original aesthetics. The goal is to create a space that seamlessly ties in with the historical fabric of our community, while introducing fresh, innovative natural design elements.

Part of our design philosophy is centered around celebrating the natural world. This is why we are incorporating natural design elements to both the interior and exterior of the warehouse. By using materials that are sustainably sourced and environmentally friendly, we hope to create a space that is both beautiful and mindful of our planet.

A key aspect of this project is the transformation of part of the warehouse into a local food market. This market will not just provide storage for local producers; it will also become a community hub. A place to come together, share resources, work, and celebrate our local food system.

We are exploring on a more fundamental level the idea of turning this space into a local food co-op. For those unfamiliar, a food co-op is a member-owned and member-governed cooperative that focuses on providing high-quality, affordable food. The benefits of a food co-op extend beyond just access to food. They help support local farmers, promote food sovereignty, and foster community resilience.

To extend this vision of sustainability, we are cultivating an edible landscape in the yard adjacent to the warehouse. This space will host a variety of edible plants, contributing to our local, sustainable food ecosystem. Tucked within this edible landscape, we're planning a tea house, a peaceful spot for community members to gather, sip on locally sourced teas, and enjoy the surrounding beauty.

Food is at the core of every culture around the world. It is a universal language that brings people together. By taking a place-based approach to regenerating our food ecosystem, we hope to create a space that not only feeds our bodies, but also nourishes our community's spirit.

Stay tuned as we continue to share updates on this exciting project!
